Happy New Year! 2015 is off to a great start, and we are so happy to have you along for the ride with us. The beginning of a new year is a great time to think about ways that you can improve all aspects of your health but especially the health of your smile. We have a few tips below to get you started this new year.

Change the Way You Eat and Drink
One of the things that often stands in our way of having a healthy smile is the way we snack and drink throughout the day. Keeping a soda by your side to sip throughout the day means you are giving your teeth a constant sugar bath. Eating crackers, pretzels, or chips leaves lots of debris behind on your teeth.

Drink and snack better by drinking water throughout the day and keeping fresh fruits and vegetables at hand for snacking. Crunchy fruits and vegetables are especially good for your teeth because they can scrub your enamel while you chew.

Change Your Approach to Office Visits
Going to the dentist is the last thing on your list of things you want to do, but you can make it easier to get that appointment on the calendar by scheduling in advance. We recommend scheduling at least six months ahead of time.

Patients often think that they should wait to make sure their appointment will fit into their calendar. This will never work. Instead, you need to put the appointment down and make your calendar fit around the appointment. It’s easier than it sounds.
