Major and Mini Smile Makeovers Can Make a Big Difference

Have you ever done something as simple in your house as paint the walls in one room another shade and immediately notice a dramatic difference?

Maybe you’ve decided to spruce up your plain brick house by painting the outside, adding a small portico, and installing a new wooden door to replace your old white door. You didn’t tear down your house to make these changes, but your house looks dramatic, fresh, and new nonetheless!

A lot of our patients come in with different requests to alter their smile. Our team here at Marineland Dental Care realizes that each person is different when it comes to their cosmetic dentistry desires, so we are able to come up with a great plan with you that suits your needs. Some of these plans are simple mini makeovers, while others are more complex.

Either way, our team here in Kennewick, WA can help you make a dramatic difference in your smile—and your confidence—with a smile makeover!

Here are some mini smile makeover procedures and some major smile makeover procedures that you can consider for your new smile with us.

Bonded Composite Resins

One of the things Dr. Hadley considers for your cosmetic dentistry needs are affordable, simple, minimally invasive procedures that can keep as much of your natural teeth structures as possible. If you have minor changes you want to make to your smile, bonded composite resins might be a subtle yet rewarding option for you.

Composite resins can be used to help improve the appearance of stained, chipped, or cracked teeth. They can even change the shape, width, or length of your tooth.

Tooth bonding with composite resins is a simple, quick, and inexpensive process. Dr. Hadley will choose a resin color that matches the natural color of your teeth and, after roughening the surface of your tooth a little bit for better bonding, will fill in the problem area with the resin. Then he’ll shape the resin and harden it before sculpting and polishing it so that it matches your teeth. You probably won’t even notice what’s been done!

Veneers

Veneers are thin shells made of composite resin or of porcelain that fit over the surface of the front of your teeth. They are made to match the color of your other teeth or can be made whiter if you choose to have many done. They can last longer than bonding, as long as 10 years.

We don’t have to do anything invasive to place veneers on your teeth; we’ll remove a very thin layer of the enamel from the surface of your tooth and then shape and polish the veneer to match the rest of your teeth.

Veneers may be appropriate for you if you have stained teeth, crooked teeth, misshaped teeth, worn teeth, and unevenly spaced teeth (gaps between teeth).

Composite Veneers
These are a good solution if you have only one or two or a few teeth that need to be improved. They’re also appropriate for people who’ve tried to bleach their teeth without the results they expected or wanted.

With composite resin veneers, we don’t have to remove as much of the tooth to apply composite resins, either. These are typically the less expensive veneer option, too.

Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers can also be used for many of the same reasons as composite veneers but are also suited for patients who have sensitive teeth. Some of the benefits of porcelain veneers over composite veneers is that the material allows them to look and even shine like your natural teeth, plus they are more stain-resistant.

Porcelain veneers can also benefit you if you’ve had restorations done before but haven’t gotten the results you wanted. They can cover some or all of your teeth, especially the ones that show when you smile.

Porcelain Crowns and Bridges

Porcelain crowns are used to cover a tooth that’s damaged, weak, broken, eroded, or misshaped. They are also used to cover big fillings or teeth after root canals. Like porcelain veneers, these are made to look like your natural teeth. Bridges (also known as fixed partial dentures), on the other hand, “bridge” gaps between missing teeth.

Crowns and bridges can be attached to implants for maximum support. This is a much more involved, time-consuming smile makeover process that fits specific situations. It can be an ideal, permanent answer for people who have missing teeth.
